Keep your leather tack supple and give it a polished finish with Carr & Day & Martin Belvoir Step 2 Tack Conditioner. Designed for regular leather care, its glycerine-and-coconut-oil formula conditions, protects and adds shine.
What Belvoir Step 2 does for your tack
The manufacturer explains that glycerine helps seal the leather's pores, forming a barrier against salt, dirt, grease and water. The result is a glossy finish with conditioning to help keep suitable saddlery leather soft and supple.
Carr & Day & Martin recommends the spray for saddles, bridles and other suitable leather equipment as part of a regular care routine.
How to use Belvoir Step 2
- Clean first. Remove sweat, dirt and grease with Belvoir Step 1 Tack Cleaner before conditioning.
- Test a hidden spot. Carry out a patch test before applying the product across the leather.
- Apply evenly. Spray Step 2 onto the clean leather.
- Work it in gently. Use a cloth or sponge to spread and rub in the conditioner.
- Finish with a polish. Once dry, buff with a soft, dry cloth.
Preparing a muddy saddle or bridle
Before cleaning, gently lift off mud with a soft brush or cloth, taking care not to scratch the surface. The manufacturer's tack-care guide recommends allowing thoroughly cleaned leather to dry before conditioning. It also advises a sparing application on new leather to avoid a tacky surface film.
Which leather should you avoid?
Belvoir Step 2 is unsuitable for aniline leather, untreated leather, suede and nubuck. For compatible saddlery leather, the clean–condition–polish sequence gives you a straightforward routine for a smart finish.
The 5-litre format
Carr & Day & Martin lists the liquid conditioner in 500 ml and 5-litre sizes. The CDM Belvoir Tack Conditioner Step 2 Liquid 5 litres is the larger format featured here.
